Benefits Victims of violence typically share a common trait, "They never thought it would happen to them." The grieving process which is natural to any victim of a violent act can be magnified if there are also physical wounds and scars to deal with concurrently. The Royia Grizzell Foundation for Victims of Violence sets in motion immediate and long-term care plans for the victims, their families, and the community. When there is no where else to turn, this Foundation bridges the gap between traditional insurance coverage in hospital treatments and those treatments taken for granted by many who have never experienced a violent act towards them. Being in the shoes of others is an overused comment. Building empathy through knowledge can be a reality.
